Stamped Concrete

Stamped Concrete is an innovative approach designed to enhance any personal space whether it is indoor or outdoor. The cementitious color hardener is broadcasted on top of base concrete and floated in. The concrete is then stamped with a pigmented color release agent. Once complete, this application increases the surface strength of your concrete to between 4000 and 6000 PSI (lbs/sq in). Designs can be applied to new and old concrete installations.

The Benefits of Stamped Concrete

Aside from the endless selection of exquisite designs and classic looks, stamped concrete offers a wide range of benefits for any homeowner. Thanks to its natural, authentic appearance, stamped concrete easily blends in with existing stone, tiles, and patterned concrete. We also make sure to use antiquing and highlighting products and sealers that incorporate cutting edge UV technology. This prevents fading and damage, particularly for flooring in outdoor living spaces, ensuring your patio looks and feels great for years to come.

Stamped concrete is also much more affordable in the short and long term. Installation is easy and quick, and concrete materials cost much less than stone and pavers. Concrete also requires less maintenance. The lack of joints and spaces means there’s no place for weeds to grow. Maintenance is as easy as sweeping and washing surfaces to remove dirt. It’s simple, and with regular upkeep, your stamped concrete patio design should last for decades.

Acid Stain

Acid stained concrete is an innovative approach to enhance the appearance of old and new concrete installation, creating a warm and inviting feel to any room or outdoor space.  Acid stain produces a marbling effect by reacting to the carbons in the concrete. Available in 8 different earth tones: Black, Walnut, Terracata, Bronze, Weathered Copper, Lime Green Mission Tan, and Rust Brown.

What is Acid Stain?

Acid concrete stains contain phosphoric acid and/or mild hydrochloric acid along with inorganic metallic salts. The acids open the pores in the concrete, and then the salts react with the chemicals in the concrete to produce the desired color. Depending on the age and porosity of the concrete, the salts are absorbed in varying degrees and produce different shades of color. The finished concrete surface has a varied coloring effect that looks similar to marble or natural stone. Since the exact chemical makeup of every concrete slab is different, no two concrete stain floors ever come out exactly the same. This guarantees that each and every stained concrete floor is truly unique. After the floor is cleaned and stained, it must be neutralized and washed with an ammonia solution to the chemical reaction and clean up the acid stain residue that was produced during the reaction and then sealed with a professional grade concrete sealer.

Exposed Aggregate

One of the most beautiful concrete options for your driveway or patio is exposed aggregate. This mixture of pea stone aggregate, color pigment, and cement can create marvelous final results. Exposed aggregate can enhance the look of your home or business, and the team at Powell's Concrete has the experience and knowledge to help you design the perfect aggregate driveway or aggregate concrete patio.

Exposed aggregate concrete is eye-catching, long-lasting, and durable.

Exposed aggregate driveways create the perfect first impression for your guests or customers. They are eye-catching, long-lasting, and durable. When pouring and setting them, we make sure to include expansion joints to ensure that the concrete will have room to adjust to the fluctuating temperatures in the Southeast. We also seal the driveway to ensure its protection.

The process is similar for exposed aggregate patios. The finishing and sealing are the same, and the result is a lovely surface that you’ll love to utilize when entertaining. An exposed aggregate patio is a truly remarkable enhancement to any backyard.

Tabby Finish

tabyy finish before.jpeg

Tabby was a type of concrete first made in the seventeenth century. It was created by burning oyster shells to create lime, then mixing it with water, wood ashes, local sand and broken oyster shells.

This finish is a type of exposed aggregate using shells rather than river rock. This may be finished leaving the exposed shell for good surface traction or it may be grinded to a smooth surface for barefoot comfort.

Broom Finish

Broom-finished concrete is popular for patios, driveways, and more. Sometimes called brushed concrete, a broom is used to create a slip-resistant texture on the surface of the concrete. Concrete finishers have been broom finishing for about as long as there has been concrete.
